About Us

Our original farm dates back to the late 1700's, at that time the farm included over 300 acres. It currently consist of 34 acres. Farming has been the mainstay of the property since the beginning. In 1965 the 1/2 mile training track was added and a barn that could accommodate 20 horses. This was the beginning of the racing era at Derby Talk Farm. At that time the farm could board 63 horses. It first was a training facility for trotters (Standardbred). Later the track was changed so that it could accommodate Thoroughbreds. We are a sanctioned training facility with Suffock Downs and Rockingham Park. The existing three horse starting gate takes us back to the farm racing era. In 2006 Atkinson Riding Academy was founded by Crystal LeBlanc and made its home at Derby Talk Farm. Many changes have been made since then but none bigger than the addition of our state of the art Indoor Riding Arena that enables riders to ride in comfort year round.
